Whatever Happened to Courage?

03/07/06 "ICH" - For me, one of the most valuable lessons taught by history is that from time to time people rise up and fight back against horrible tyranny and against impossible odds. There are many examples: Shay’s Rebellion, the battle of Matewan, and the battle of Blair Mountain, the Ludlow Massacre, the Haymarket Strike and, more recently, the race wars that culminated in the 1960s. Many of these struggles, conspicuously absent from our history texts, are connected to labor disputes, when workers were forced to organize and to strike for more humane working conditions, including the eight hour work day. Massive strikes have played a significant role in the economic and social history of the U.S. Thus it is no coincidence that America has the bloodiest labor history of any industrialized nation. How a people react to oppression and injustice says much about what kind of people and, indeed, what kind of nation they are. In those responses is revealed the national character.

Throughout much of our history, so inhumane and utterly deplorable were working conditions that workers frequently had to resort to the strike—a strategy that remains labor’s most effective and underutilized tool to this day. In the past, companies routinely hired armed thugs to prevent workers from meeting and organizing unions. Despite the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, workers did not have the legal right to form unions until Roosevelt’s ‘New Deal.’ Belonging to a union could cost you everything. Not belonging to a union assured one’s fate as an indentured servant of the company. The notorious Baldwin-Felts Detective Agency has a long history of terrorizing workers on behalf of the company bosses. Intimidation, threats, beatings, lynchings and shootings were commonplace during the industrial revolution. Those who demanded the eight hour work day, better wages and the right to form unions faced grave and palpable danger. Organizers often lived short but intense lives. It required courage to stand up to the company thugs and to fight for justice. Those who did were called reds and communists by their capitalist oppressors.

Even though the workplace remains the site of gross injustice and tyranny, few of us today can image the atmosphere of oppression and intimidation that once prevailed. By the grace of courageous but otherwise ordinary individuals, workers organized themselves against company tyranny; and we gained the eight hour work day, the forty hour work week, the end of child labor, better wages, vacation from work and more humane working conditions. These gains were not given through the benevolence of the company bosses—they were won through enormous self sacrifice, obtained by sweat and blood, and often through armed rebellion.

Reading accounts of American labor history causes me to marvel at the character and courage of those who fought for social and economic justice against incredible odds. Quite literally, those men and women risked their lives for one another, and many brutally oppressed women and men died for the cause of ending industrial slavery. Not only were union organizers menaced by the company goon squads, they were often beaten and killed by the police, and the National Guard. The real form of government a nation has is revealed by which side its law enforcement takes when insurrections around issues of social justice arise. Traditionally, the police and the militia have been called forth to defend the oppressors—the wealthy and the powerful—from the oppressed who demand social justice. Thus, we know beyond all doubt what kind of government we have and who runs it—a practice that continues to this day, as demonstrated in the civil rights marches of the sixties and in contemporary anti-war protests.

The most striking trait exhibited by those who risked their lives for just causes was their unflinching courage in the face of horrible oppression and colossal odds—something that is strikingly absent from the comparatively safe times of the present. What is it about the women and men who fought the Felts Detective Agency, the local police (owned by the company bosses) and the militia that is absent from the comparatively feeble protests of today? Have we as a people become too soft and comfortable? Or is it that the injustice has not yet reached our limits of tolerance? Is it that we believe the propaganda that is fomented in the print media, and over the electromagnetic airwaves that saturate our slumbering minds? Is it that we are willing to look the other way while our government perpetrates crimes against nature and humanity, so long as our material comforts are not threatened? Have we become so narrow and self serving that we no longer care about the welfare of others? Or does America no longer produce people of mettle?

Our predecessors in the labor and civil rights movements chose to die on their feet rather than live on their knees by bowing down to unjust authority. They would not allow themselves to be intimidated into submission even by armed goon squads under the employ of the company bosses. Not only did they stand on their own two feet, erect like real citizens—they stood for the principles that this country was supposedly founded upon. They fought and died for them. If there are no longer causes worth fighting and dying for, surely life is not worth living. As Dr. King pointed out, this is spiritual death. Are we a nation that is experiencing spiritual death?

Without courage and self sacrifice in the public interest, there can be no justice. The future will be forged by putting our professed beliefs to the test of action. What good is faith that cannot be put into action for the common good? As surely as day follows night, justice follows courage. Let each of us ask ourselves : What are we made of? What, if anything, do we stand for? There are no safe positions of neutrality. Which side are you on? Are we creating the kind of history that will make our great grandchildren proud? Is it the kind of history that will inspire them to be free; or is the kind of history that will assure their servitude to the masters of war?

It is far better to fight and die for just causes, even against impossible odds, than to live in the perceived safety of indifference and complacency that characterizes our time. Our dance of life on this earth is short. We seriously delude ourselves if we think there is safety in capitulation to unjust authority. Our spirits thirst for justice. The organizing principle of life itself is not competition—survival of the fittest; it is mutual cooperation, looking out for the welfare of others. This is what makes life worth living. The public interest is a far nobler cause than private wealth and industrial slavery.

In a world where the perception is the reality, all countries need to have the capability to manage their own perceptual alignment – otherwise someone else will. We live in a global village, which is reliant on communication and perception. Every country needs the tools to be part of that game.

A direct quote from the website of Strategic Communication Laboratories, a London based company that offers "the most powerful weapon in the world", the ability to manage every aspect of a conflict from one operation centre.

Take a look around their website and witness sickening quote after quote explaining how their vision is to allow the total control of citizens by their government or their military, to keep it that way, and to facilitate conflicts with and the takeover of other countries and the execution of total control over their citizens.

The idea put across by SCL is that if you can control the perceptions people have of reality, then you can control reality itself.

As the world moves further away from the 20th century concept of the Cold War, it becomes increasingly clear that the very nature of warfare itself has changed. The old style conflicts were about overpowering the enemy and winning ground. The new wars are about ideas, belief systems and ideologies. The battle is no longer about winning territory; it is about winning minds.

George Orwell was right on the money when he envisaged the coming 21st century as a battle based on the PERCEPTION of reality. in 1984, his classic warning to the world, Orwell told us that we would have to face this threat:

The Party said that Oceania had never been in alliance with Eurasia. He, Winston Smith, knew that Oceania had been in alliance with Eurasia as short a time as four years ago. But where did that knowledge exist? Only in his own consciousness, which in any case must soon be annihilated. SCL's vision is no different from the constructed artificial reality designed to house the minds of the human race portrayed in the feature film, The Matrix. If you present all the people with a fabricated collective illusion of reality, and enough meaningless distractions, they may stop questioning that reality when things don't seem to add up.


Formed in 1993, SCL's customers include NGOs, police departments, military forces, municipal authorities, and the UN. According to the website, funding for SCL has been provided by a number of "private high net worth individuals" all based in the UK.

The company has invested nearly $20 million into research at what they call the Behavioural Dynamics Institute (BDi), the world’s leading authority on persuasion, communication psychology and public diplomacy. Given that they are the "World's leaders" it is strange that they do not have a website.

SCL is about selling to the military and Governments, or those that wish to control the military and the Government, the tools that they need to fight and the win the information war for people's minds.

Within its OpCentres are all the tools needed to initiate an elite full spectrum police state takeover - reality control. The SCL website makes the following chilling statement:

The last 5 years have seen a flurry of Homeland Security scenarios enacted and re-enacted on the streets of our cities. What if there is a biological attack, or the detonation of multiple explosive devices?

However, a major flaw has emerged in many of the scenarios - the unmanageability of civilians. They do not behave as they are supposed to. When a virus hits a city, civilians do not line up for vaccination: they run for the hills. When terrorists are looking for a target, it is the predictability of civilian behaviour that makes the terrorists' job easier. What if there was a way to control civilian behaviour when it counts? Imagine the benefits of having civilians as cooperating partners.

Strategic Communication makes the people part of the solution, not part of the problem.

But how do the so-called OpCentres provide the ability to do this? Well according to SCL:

An Opcentre puts influence, control and power back into the hands of the government and military, giving them greater power to influence the enemy in time of conflict and enhanced access to their citizens during a crisis. For instance, an Opcentre can be designed to override all national radio and TV broadcasts, allowing the government and military to communicate with the public as the need arises.


The OpCentres allow for powerful PSYOP campaigns to be conducted, which can engender support within the national community for proposed military action or more bone chillingly, "develop national resilience and behavioural compliance for homeland security issues".

They also allow for the takeover and control of Financial markets, health ministries, and foreign affairs.

Modules within the Opcentres can range from "Word-of Mouth Units" to "Cultural Alignment Units" and previous projects SCL have undertaken for clients include to "Design and develop a permanent military strategic communication facility capable of delivering strategic and operational psyop campaigns for a South Asian country." and to "Design, build and install a Homeland Security Centre for an Asian country. The Opcentre can override all national radio and TV broadcasts in time of crisis."

Internal security issues are covered too, with the ability within the OpCentre to quell public unrest, manage large crowds or riot situations, prevent insurgency and other such public affairs crises under the umbrella of a "counter-terrorism programme."

Almost every country suffers from some problematic faction within its citizens. These disaffected groups may be driven by religious fervour, self-importance or just greed. In all cases, their ability to operate and recruit new members depends on the perceptual environment and the levels of tolerance of the state and its citizens. SCL specialises in producing solutions for governments so that they can significantly increase their control and management of disaffected groups as part of a wider counter-terrorism programme.

According to SCL, although it offers solutions for all departments of government, it "makes sense" to give total control of of their installations to the Head of State because other ministers of government may be "over zealous" or may not share the same vision.

Perhaps there may be some ministers who are not hell bent on destroying the freedoms of everyone and perpetuating endless psy-war on people and nations all over the planet? hmmm? Perhaps?


This is the future of the globalist police state takeover, they have the infrastructure in place, they have the ability to initiate the takeover NOW. However, they recognise that perception is everything and we are engaged within an INFOWAR.

They could not takeover tomorrow because not enough people would believe the perception of reality that they are transmitting. Currently we are in the majority , they still have a long way to go before their PSYOPS campaigns and "word of mouth units" can do an effective enough job.

Of course the main task currently assigned to the "Cultural Alignment Unit" is to create the perception that we are the minority, and that anyone who is not with the Government is with the "disaffected groups" more widely referred to as "the terrorists"

We are holding them off by spreading the truth and defending our freedoms in our own peaceful revolution of information. It is our reality that is at stake, they want to control our reality with conflict and disharmony and therefore they must continue to create the perception that that is the way the world is.

As SCL puts it on their own website:

We live in a world of communication, where perception is very often the reality. Those individuals that control the perceptions are the ones that control virtually everything. Most modern conflicts are based on misaligned perceptions, ideologies, opinions about religion, etc. If a government does not have the tools to manage the perceptions which effect security, defence, finance, tourism, health and foreign relations, then it may well find itself at the mercy of those that do.

Iran's Deadly EMP Weapon Latest Neo-Con War Fraud

From the same snake oil salesmen that brought you 45 minute attack claims, dodgy dossiers and weapons bunkers that were bakeries, comes the shocking new threat that could knock America back into the stone age, Iran's deadly EMP weapons.

Fox, CBN News, World Net Daily and others are running for the hills Y2K style in their madcap efforts to warn the American people that we must strike Iran before they unleash the apocalyptic fury of EMP.

CBN reports,

"One national security expert calls it the mega-threat you haven't heard of. But America's enemies know all too well about the destructive potential of an electromagnetic pulse attack."

"In the hit film Ocean's Eleven, thieves used it to shut down the city of Las Vegas. In last summer's blockbuster, War of the Worlds, alien invaders used it to cripple the Earth's infrastructure. And the heroes of The Matrix used it to disable rampaging robots."

"It is an electromagnetic pulse bomb, also known as EMP."

Using staged Hollywood images of chaos and destruction, a practice well known to Fox News, CBN tries to sell the EMP threat by marrying it to archetype big screen moments that most Americans remember. This is a very nuanced propaganda ploy because it immediately puts pictures to a concept, Electro Magnetic Pulse technology, that would otherwise be hard to grasp by the average Joe six pack. This makes it more believable despite the fact that the story has no foundation in fact.

We are led to believe that Iran plans on detonating a low yield nuke at a high altitude above the US, resulting in powerful electromagnetic pulses shooting down to the Earth's surface and knocking out the entire US power grid.

The EMP fraud is the 2006 version of Saddam's deadly biological UAV drones that were set to reign down terror on major American cities.

In 2003, Fox News warned us that, "Iraq could be planning a chemical or biological attack on American cities through the use of remote-controlled "drone" planes equipped with GPS tracking maps, according to U.S. intelligence."

Iraq didn't even have an air force that could attack neighboring countries never mind elsewhere. Photographs of the alleged drones showed model kit toy aircraft that looked about as convincing as paper aeroplanes.


Fox carried the disclaimer that there was "no proof" to validate the story but being the boot-licking establishment mouthpiece that they are decided to run it anyway. The Washington Post later reported that the drones were never built and the only aircraft similar in nature were capable of traveling no more than 93 miles. The distance between America and Iraq is roughly 7,000 miles.

But in 2003 it was reported as a credible threat and now in 2006 the fog of war again shrouds what any rational thinking person can deduce as a total scam.

Why would Iran proactively target the US and bring the might of the new world empire down upon them with complete justification for annihilation? It would be insanely suicidal.

To even begin to explore the development of EMP, Iran would have to produce nuclear weapons.

Russian Governor and former nuclear power plant manager Pavel Ipatov stated that Iran was incapable of building a nuclear weapon. Such an assertion was even backed up by National Intelligence Director John Negroponte, who stated that Iran simply does not have the material to produce nuclear bombs.

Even the CIA's own national intelligence estimate concluded that Iran was at least ten years away from manufacturing the key ingredient for a nuclear weapon.

The International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors say there is no evidence of a weapons program.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. We are being asked to believe the same incredulous lies from the same crowd of tricksters and scam artists that used weapons of mass deception to lead us into a deliberate quagmire that has killed thousands of troops and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis, not counting the near million dead Iraqis as a result of sanctions.

The juggernaut of war seems to care little for public opinion as the unceasing propaganda in preparation for tactical strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities builds to a crescendo.

The Neo-Cons are determined to slit the throat of America even if it means they drown in her blood.

More Clinton/Dem connections to Dubai, more hypocrisy

In the March 8 edition of the San Francisco Examiner (PDF download of the print edition here), columnist P.J. Corkery’s editorial “Will Dubai get what it wants in the Bay Area?” reveals how the United Emirates government-controlled Dubai Investment Group is backing a bid to acquire the Knight-Ridder newspaper chain, following a failed bid for the Albertson’s grocery chain. There is no question that Dubai is on a buying spree for US assets.

But what is of even more interest is who is doing the fronting, lobbying and buying for Dubai. To quote Corkery at length [follow the money-LC]:

“The Yank partner of the Dubai Investment Group is quite a well known name. He is a big-time Democratic contributor and grocery store magnate, Ron Burkle of Beverly Hills . . . Burkle’s bidding entity is called the Yucaipa Cos [ check profile here ] . . .

“Yucaipa’s chief marketing guy is Bill Clinton . . .

Burkle pays Clinton $10 million a year, my sources report, for his services -- which are mainly to drum up money in Dubai. Bill flies to Dubai so often on Burkle’s Boeing 757 that he calls it “Air Ron.” . . .

Clinton, of course, has lately been defending the Dubai ports deal, while his wife opposes it . . . Oh, and also on Yucaipa Cos. board is the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

“This global capitalism just leaves me spinning.”

Burkle’s Dem connections run deep, and include business with CALPERS, the gigantic California public employee pension fund, former vice president Al Gore (and his new media network), California governor candidate Phil Angelides, and notorious politico and former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown (now radio talk show host on the Air America Radio network), who once worked for Burkle.

As previously written, it is no surprise that the Clintons, Jesse Jacksons, Democrats, liberals and progressives, with their myriad front companies, are as corrupt as the Bushes, the Republicans and the neocons, and their Carlyle Groups. The New World Order is one big house. Simply check any major (former or current) politician’s Wall Street ties. Check the boards of directors of major corporations. It is all there, in black and white.

Those who are screaming from the rooftops about the Bush administration’s dealings with Dubai must also do the same, regarding the equally appalling business that the rival faction has always enjoyed for generations -- that is, if they want a leg to stand on.

It is the failure to grasp this basic truth that prevents any reform in the United States.

Port deal is nothing compared to Ptech -- US computer infrastructure compromised by terrorist-owned company; Cheney 'friends' with owner

While Congress and the media focus on the potential dangers of a UAE-owned company running American port operations, any possible threat is dwarfed by the current insecurity of the US government's computer infrastructure, which has been compromised by a company with multiple connections to terrorist financing.

The company, once known as Ptech (now GoAgile 'Intelligent Agility by Design'), has been contracted to provide sophisticated computer software to several government agencies, including the Army, the Air Force, Naval Air Command, Congress, the Department of Energy, the Department of Justice, Customs, the FAA, the IRS, NATO, the FBI, the Secret Service, and the White House.

Shortly after 9/11, the company's primary investor, Yassin al-Qadi (al-Kadi), was identified by the US government as a specially designated global terrorist. Officials describe al-Qadi as one of Osama bin Laden's "chief money launderers," and say he transferred as much as $3 billion to al-Qaeda during the 1990s.

Al-Qadi is a wealthy Saudi with connections to banking, diamonds, chemicals, construction, transportation, and real estate. He once headed Muwafaq, an Islamic charity the US Treasury Department described as an "al Qaeda front that receives funding from wealthy Saudi businessmen."

Al-Qadi also maintained an unusually close relationship with notable US politicians. While attempting to defend Ptech, the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of Massachusetts (ADCMA) revealed the fact that al-Qadi "was prominent in Washington circles and even showed President Jimmy Carter and Dick Cheney around during their visits to Saudi Arabia."

Al-Qadi told an Arab newspaper in October of 2001 that he "spoke to [Dick Cheney] at length" and they "even became friends." Similarly, while speaking with Computer World Magazine, Ptech cofounder Oussama Ziade said that al-Qadi "talked very highly of his relationship with [former President] Jimmy Carter and [Vice President] Dick Cheney."

Ptech, under al-Qadi's ownership, supplied the US government with what is known as 'enterprise architecture'. According to Glenn Watt of Backbone Security, "enterprise architecture is really the design, the layout, the blueprint if you will for the computer networks and computer systems that are going to go into an organization." In regards to Ptech, he said, "the software they put on your system could be collecting every key stroke that you type while you are on the computer. It could be establishing a connection to the outside terrorist organization through all of your security measures."

John Zachman, who is considered the "father" of enterprise architecture, said, "You would know where the access points are, you'd know how to get in, you would know where the weaknesses are, you'd know how to destroy it."

Former FBI counterterrorism analyst Matthew Levitt has said, "for someone like [al-Qadi] to be involved in a capacity in an organization, a company that has access to classified information, that has access to government open or classified computer systems would be of grave concern."

While trying to play down such fears, Ptech cofounder Oussama Ziade, along with Ptech's vice president of professional services, Joseph Johnson, have claimed many times to the press that al-Qadi had little to do with the company and did not give any money to Ptech after 1994.

Other Ptech employees, however, told the FBI that al-Qadi was introduced to them as "the owner" of the company.

Confirming this, Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld, who is described by the conservative Front Page Magazine as "the world's leading expert on Narco-Terrorism and a noteworthy authority on international terrorism, political corruption, money laundering, drug trafficking, and organized crime," reported that al-Qadi made a $14 million investment in Ptech in 1998, making him the company's major investor.

In total, according to Ehrenfeld, al-Qadi "invested at least $18 million directly in Ptech, $5 million through the Isle of Man, and $9 million indirectly through BMI, a now-defunct New Jersey-based Islamic investment firm with connections to other members on Ptech's management and investors. ... Al-Kadi also transferred $2 million USD to Ptech from Switzerland between 1997 and 2000, according to Swiss investigators."

Adding further concerns, al-Qadi was only one of many Ptech investors and managers with connections to terrorist financing.

Former Ptech board member Soliman Biheiri, who was recently convicted of lying to investigators regarding his affiliations with known terrorists, was in charge of the above-mentioned New Jersey Investment bank-BMI, which according to court documents was used as a financial conduit for al-Qaeda and Hamas supporters. The FBI discovered the true principals behind BMI were actually Yassin al-Qadi and Hamas leader Musa abu Marzook.

Investigators also accuse Ptech's Biheiri of using BMI to funnel $3.7 million from an Islamic charity, entitled the SAAR Foundation, to Islamist terrorists. The President and CEO of the SAAR Foundation was Yakub Mirza, who was also on Ptech's board of directors, and who is said to have contacts high within the FBI.

Furthermore, Ptech's Vice President and Chief Scientist, Hussein Ibrahim, was the founder and President of the aforementioned BMI. In fact, Ptech, al-Qadi, Biheiri, Ibrahim, BMI, Mirza, and SAAR, all maintained financial connections with one another, as well as with other organizations and fronts connected to money laundering and terrorist financing, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, al-Taqwa, the Safa Foundation, the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO), and others. Below is a crude diagram illustrating just a fraction of this financial network, its complexity, and its affiliations with Ptech.

Ptech's chief architect, Suheil Laher, headed yet another Islamic charity entitled Care International, which the FBI and IRS claim was "engaged in the solicitation and expenditure of funds to support the mujahideen and promote jihad."

Top Ptech investor and manager, Muhamed Mubayyid, served as Care's treasurer, and has since been indicted for lying on tax returns and concealing the charity's true activities. Mubayyid also donated money to the Alkifah Refugees Center, which maintained the same corporate office as Care, and from where the 1993 World Trade Center bombing was launched.

Also part of this financial nexus was Ptech founder Abdurahman Muhammad Alamoudi, who, according to the US Treasury Department, "had a close relationship with al Qaida and had raised money for al Qaida in the United States." He has since been sentenced to a maximum of 23-years in prison for illegal dealings with Libya, including his admitted involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah.

Alamoudi also founded a US Army chaplain program for which he served as a consultant for over a decade. A former Justice Department official has described the program as a "spy service for al-Qaeda."

Like al-Qadi, Alamoudi was also influential in elite Washington circles. According to The Washington Post, as head of the American Muslim Council, Alamoudi "met with senior Clinton and Bush administration officials in his efforts to bolster Muslim political prominence."

In February 2003, Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby wrote:

"[In 2000] Alamoudi was one of several Muslims invited to meet with candidate [George W.] Bush in Austin, Texas. Alamoudi is certainly influential -- but he is also an open backer of terrorism. In October 2000, he was cheered at a pro-Palestinian rally in Washington, DC, when he declared: "We are all supporters of Hamas. . . . I am also a supporter of Hezbollah." Three months later he was in Beirut for a terrorist summit, along with leaders of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and Al Qaeda."


Amazingly, Alamoudi -- who has direct connections to the 9/11 conspirators - was invited to prayer service with President Bush three days after the 9/11 attacks.

There are indications that al-Qadi, Alamoudi, and other suspected terrorists were protected from prosecution by high-ranking US officials, effectively preventing the FBI from stopping 9/11.

FBI Agent Robert Wright, who was in charge of pursuing al-Qadi and his associates during the 1990s, said the FBI "intentionally and repeatedly thwarted and obstructed" his attempts to arrest terrorists, seize assets, and expand his investigation into the financial network of which al-Qadi was a part.

After his investigation into al-Qadi was shut down entirely in 1999, Wright completed a manuscript, entitled "Fatal Betrayals of the Intelligence Mission," which, he said, "outlines, in very specific detail, what I believe allowed September 11th to happen." The government has banned the manuscript from being released.

Approximately three months prior to the 9/11 attacks, agent Wright wrote a memo warning that American citizens would die as a result of the FBI's incompetence. He said there was virtually no effort on the part of the FBI's International Terrorism Unit to neutralize known and suspected international terrorists living in the United States."

According to former Justice Department prosecutor John Loftus, even after 9/11 "people in the intelligence community came and said-guys like Alamoudi...and other terrorists weren't being touched because they'd been ordered not to investigate the cases, not to prosecute them, because they were being funded by the Saudis and a political decision was being made at the highest levels, don't do anything that would embarrass the Saudi government." He went on to say:

"[W]ho was it that fixed the cases? How could these guys operate for more than a decade immune from prosecution? And, the answer is coming out in a very strange place. What Alamoudi and al-Arian have in common is a guy named Grover Norquist. He's the super lobbyist. ...

Grover Norquist's best friend is Karl Rove, the White House chief of staff, and apparently Norquist was able to fix things."

Shortly after 9/11, several Ptech employees -- upon hearing reports of Yassin al-Qadi's connections to terrorist financing - began pleading with the FBI to investigate the company. However, as reported by the National Review Online, "the bureau did nothing, despite knowing that Qadi was a primary financier of Ptech. ... Frighteningly, when an employee told the President of Ptech he felt he had to contact the FBI regarding Qadi's involvement in the company, the president allegedly told him not to worry because [Ptech board member] Yaqub Mirza...had contacts high within the FBI. ... After months of the FBI refusing to do anything substantive, it took the efforts of U.S. Customs, now a part of Homeland Security, to raid the business in December 2002 and jumpstart the investigation into the alleged terrorist financial network."

Despite the raid, no charges were ever brought against Ptech.

Company cofounder Ziade, who has gone to great lengths to profess Ptech's innocence, said all the "innuendo" made it impossible to attract new clients, forcing Ptech to become a "virtual company" and market its software through an unidentified third party.

According to The Patriot Ledger of Boston, despite the forced transition, "most of the company's clients, including several federal agencies, did not drop Ptech as a vendor." In May of 2004, Ziade told The Ledger, ''We still have government agencies as customers, including the White House."
